The fact that they have WORKING equipment!
I belong to puyallup and drive to BL because Puyallup has equipment that I use and it has been down since March! I pay a yearly equipment fee and nothing gets fixed so I now drive to BL
The staff is always friendly and they do such a great job keeping things clean no matter what time I show up. The trainer, Riley, has been extremely helpful with assisting me in my health journey.
The machines are spread out. The one thing I don't like is that I don't know how to use a lot of the machines. Only got a quick group intro and it would have been nice to have someone actually show us how to use the machines
Friendly check in people that smile and say hello!
Clean and tidy. All humans are welcome… I see all ages and all types and sizes of people being represented here.
Great gym. Always clean, well ventilated, and not too busy when I go weekday mornings. I usually swing by after workout classes for supplemental workouts, cool down, and stretching. However, they are also great for my full body workouts on weekends. Lockers/showers are well-kept and I'm able to get ready right before work. Friendly staff at the front desk too!
Bonney Lake Planet Fitness is the greatest gym on the Planet Earth. The machines are immaculate and clean. The locker rooms are spacious and well maintained. The employees are incredible with Jessica in particular being a standout top notch leader in the Bonney Lake community. Bonney Lake Planet Fitness is by far the best gym within 15 miles of my house. I brag often to my friends how much better the Bonney Lake Planet Fitness is compared to the Federal Way Planet Fitness. If there was a contest of Gym Quality in Bonney Lake I am confident that the Bonney Lake Planet Fitness would have a podium finish. The water fountain water is pretty gross though. The light says that the filter was changed so I do think the incredible staff are doing their job with elegance and speed in making sure the filtering system is maintained but maybe Bonney Lake municipal water is just a nasty starting base. Or maybe I'm a purified water snob. These are questions we'll never know the answer to.
But there was one question I did have answered with such efficiency and grace from Jessica at Bonney Lake Planet Fitness. I had concerns with the planet fitness crowd meter tracker. The app has the crowd density on a scale of 1 to 10 but it never really goes over a 4 or 5, with a 2 being what I would now consider busy. I discovered this when I went in at a 2 and every machine, rack, and bench were occupied with people standing close behind waiting their turn. Granted there was plenty of space on treadmills which take up the majority of space in the building, but I wouldn't rate that level of overall density of people a 2/10. The clustering around the important equipment was more likely an 8/10. My solution would be to simply lower the crowd density meter to 5 ticks instead of 10 but I understand it'll never happen as it was explained to me that it's a metric of the buildings maximum occupancy and not a measurement of how busy it actually is. I shudder to think of the day the meter ever reads a 10/10 as it is currently implemented. Changing it in the app would necessitate a major overhaul that I don't see a company like planet fitness caring enough about to do.
But you know who does care? Jessica at Planet Fitness. Her employer should take notice of her personal dedication. She personally called me up on my personal cell phone in the middle of one of my personal days off to address my personal concerns about the crowd meter. What other Gym has that level of personal commitment to their clientele?
Personal.
I think planet fitness is ok, but I don't like companies asking me to fill out a survey of my thoughts and then asking me to change the score I gave because it makes them look bad to corporate. I understand the whole mess of performance scores and the loopholes people come up with to increase the number, but it doesn't make me like the brand more. Would I recommend Planet Fitness to a family or Friend on a scale of 1 to 10? No, who does that? How would that conversation ever go in real life?
"Boy gee I sure wish there was a gym I could go to"
"You should go to Planet Fitness. The crowd meter is always a 2/10 but the gym and staff is a 10/10."
No silly,
It's more like:
"I need to get back in shape"
"Planet Fitness is cheap and there's one in town."
I really dont think any of this matters. I'll be going back to Bonney Lake Planet Fitness many more times despite the crowd meter being a useless metric to me and despite feeling uncomfortable with the idea of a company using my phone number to invade my privacy to try to get more brownie points with their corporate overlords. It's close to my house and I have a Planet Fitness membership already. I'll change my score to a 10 to help out the humans working at the Bonney Lake location. Not because it's the best gym ever and despite the employees being clearly overworked and pressured to make their "numbers" look good. If Planet Fitness wanted to make a positive change that would be easy to implement and reduce pressure on their employees, it would be to change the language around these survey questions.
"How likely are you to recommend Planet Fitness to someone on a scale of 1 to 10?" is so much more vague than
"Rate todays workout"
In conclusion,
Bonney Lake Planet Fitness is the most amazing Gym I've ever had the pleasure to experience. Jessica is so great. I don't like the survey question language and the mess it makes, but Golly I sure can't wait to go back again. I'll be sure to bring a full water bottle and only go when the crowd meter is a 1 or on cardio focused days. I've already begun recommending Bonney Lake Planet Fitness to every single person in my contacts list. It was nice to talk to Grandma again and I'm certain she'll be going to Bonney Lake Planet Fitness soon.
Everyone was so friendly, the club was very clean and the equipment was well maintained. The GM, Kaiya listened carefully to my problem and said she would check with the owner and indeed she did! She said it might take a couple of days but she found a solution!!
