I enjoy using different equipment that targets the muscles in a different way & there's enough to choose from, also like the conversations I have with those I see on a regular basis. Staff is always friendly especially Cassy whom I see smiling when I come in, been going 3 times a week for awhile now.
The staff are very helpful and on the ball with any problems that may arise. The staff keep the place incredibly clean. I like how everyone whos their to workout are incredibly polite and kind, we share the equipment. I used to be at The Zoo and where I do miss some of the free weight machines over there, I couldn't be happier with my decision to switch back to PF!
The person at the front desk who helped me last night was super nice, down to earth and provided me lots of information -- answering all of my questions. I wish I could remember his name, but I'm sure you can find out. He made me want to start a new workout routine which is why I stopped in. He was great and now I feel all set to start working out.
I appreciate Planet Fitness for its welcoming atmosphere and accessible layout—especially for those new to fitness or returning after a break. That said, there’s real potential to enhance the experience for members seeking more variety and progression in their workouts.
Equipment Suggestions for Improvement:
- Dumbbells: The current range tops out too early. Increasing the available weights beyond 75 lbs. would better support strength training goals and allow for continued progression.
- Kettlebells: A wider range of heavier kettlebells would open up more dynamic training options, especially for functional fitness and conditioning.
- Resistance Bands: Most bands available are high resistance. Adding lower-resistance options would support mobility work, rehab exercises, and warm-ups for all levels including those that want to train their pull ups without the most massive band available.
- Hip Thrust Machine: The current setup feels awkward and lacks adjustability. A more ergonomic, plate-loaded hip thrust machine would better support glute training and reduce strain during setup.
Planet Fitness has the foundation for a great member experience. These additions would make it even more inclusive—not just for beginners, but for those looking to grow and challenge themselves over time. As an avid, daily user of PF -- I understand it's a beginner friendly environment but, seeing the same people day in and day out -- I assume others might be seeking more ways to grow in mind & body without having to switch gyms.
