It's clean and the staff at night is very friendly. I do wish some machine cushions would get fixed as they sometime cut into my legs. But overall great place.
The gym is convenient, clean and the atmosphere helps the motivation to keep going. Most of the front desk folks (at least in the early morning) could use some feedback about being more attentive to greeting saying goodbye to members. I offer this advice not knowing what your training protocol is for that effort. There is a guy at the front desk there at 515am when we arrive who is very pleasant, attentive and ALWAYS greets us with a smile. I never caught his name, but he's got very long reddish hair. We see him 5 days a week and he is great! Deserves some kudos from management / ownership in my opinion. On the contrary though, nearly every time we leave, at about 6:45am five days a week - I am the one to initiate a goodbye to the staff member on duty at that time and most of the time they look up from their phone to respond. It doesn't necessarily bother me, I know how the younger folks today work. But, it may matter to someone and you may want to consider that.
I have enjoyed the opportunity to experience Planet fitness at my level. I've often asked employees questions and have gotten curteous, accurate information. Love it!!
Look, I’m not here to bash. I’m here to bench. And maybe people-watch just a little—this is DeLand after all. This PF location is like the lovechild of a no-frills gym and your grandma’s living room: oddly welcoming, smells like cleaning wipes and hustle, and you’ll probably bump into someone doing curls in jeans.
The good:
• Clean machines, lots of cardio gear, and the staff is usually chill.
• Music isn’t too loud, which means you can actually hear your podcast and your intrusive thoughts.
• Massage chairs? Yes. Water massage beds? Also yes. Are they actually helping my recovery or just an excuse to lie down? Who’s to say.
The meh:
• Peak hours = no parking, machines packed, and more waiting than lifting.
• The “lunk alarm” still exists. You drop a dumbbell too hard and everyone looks at you like you committed a felony. Sorry Karen, it slipped.
The verdict:
If you’re trying to get in shape without going broke, or just need a non-judgmental space to walk on a treadmill and reflect on your life choices, this is your spot. Just don’t expect a powerlifting mecca. It’s Planet Fitness, not Mount Olympus.
10/10 stars. Minus one star for the dude who insists on doing full-body stretches in front of the mirror for 45 min.
Nii
The many choices of equipment and kept very clean.. Only bad thing and getting worst every month are all the people that are on their phones and setting at a machine special the ones that only have that function..and they no people are waiting to use that machine..
I try to do my workout aerobically. Move with purpose between machines and keep my heart rate up for the workout. There usually isn’t much issue with that. There also seems to be a relatively quick response when I report an issue with equipment. There are employees regularly vacuuming and cleaning and sanitizing the equipment.
