While I am pleased overall, with the cleanliness of the club and friendliness of the staff. I was recently disappointed to find the whiteboard the trainer uses during fitness class was not available. I enjoy the fitness classes because I don’t have to think about the exercises or timing/counting reps. The trainer handles that. Having the whiteboard during class time gives fluidity to the fitness class (I know what exercises I’m going to do ahead of time) and makes it easier to move on to an exercise if the trainer is assisting another class member.
Please reconsider placing it back in the fitness area during class times.
Normally, I would give it a 10. A recent isolated incident: 5 out of 10 score.
Yesterday, Friday, April 18, 2025, my fitness peers and I came in at six in the morning ready to work out and see our list of things to do that our instructor, Dave, writes out on the dry-erase board. Dave changes every workout to maximize the benefits. We pleasantly do our work out, give one another an encouraging fist bump, and go about our crazy day. The dry-erase board, Dave puts away.
I do not know WHO of the higher-ups thought it was ideal to throw away the dry erase marker boards that our fitness instructor kindly writes instructions for us in large writing for us to follow! The board is approximately 18" x 24". It's not getting in the way, and it's put it away afterward!
My fitness peers and I were very annoyed to find out that this dry erase board was thrown out...ridiculous! What it did do was throw our workout into a disarray. Our instructor, Dave, (who I've been going to for over a year) could only apologize, wrote the instructions on a what-the-everloving tiny clipboard, and guided us through our workout, which held up maximizing the benefits of our workout.
I've been going to Planet Fitness these many years, and it has been a great space for me and others. The gym is always immaculate. The machines are always functional, great hours, fantastic staff, clean bathrooms, and gym lockers. Planet Fitness is basically spot on. NOW here comes someone whose hoity-toity idea is to take away a dry erase board, which is only temporarily set up for a half-hour class, then put away.
Dear Planet Fitness, I've been eloquent up to now. Let me make it absolutely clear: I love the concept that Planet Fitness is called a judgment-free zone. Right now, at this Jenkintown location, your members are judging you. Taking away the dry-erase boards is stupid. The solution is easy: bring them back, because word-of-mouth among the Jenkintown Planet Fitness community is a fiery beast.
