Like the large assortment and availability of both free weights, machines so very close to where I live. Also, the staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and are constantly cleaning.
I like the cleanliness of the facility. I like the fact that there are plenty of dumbbells, something that Xsport/ LA Fitness lacks and one of the main reasons I left there. I also like the availability of weight plates and the fact that everything is kept in its place and not scattered all over the gym like it was at Xsport/LA Fitness.
My only issues would be :
1) that there are no Free weight stations. I miss using the squat rack at Xsport, you cannot get the proper resistance from squatting off a smith machine.
2) Same goes for shoulder press , I miss having a free weight station for shoulder presses.
3) Xsport/LA Fitness had better Ab Crunch machines.
4) Xsport had better Hanstring machine options. The seated hamstring machine you guys have restricts the blood flow and proper flexing of the hamstring muscle, because you’re seated. Xsport had options of : 1) one where you lay on your stomach and leg “curl” and 2) also a Standing / Kneeling Hamstring machine, where you can work one leg at a time. That is all. I know Harlem Avenue location near me is undergoing a facelift and hopefully I’ll see some new equipment at Melrose Park North avenue location soon?
