I play pickleball at PCCCS almost every day. There are some issues.
1. The lighting in the gym is an older system that is really terrible. Please fix the lighting. One day, a bulb actually exploded right over us as we were playing. Some lights don't work at all, some are dim, some are bright - it needs a total system replacement. The Riverside facility has great lighting. Something like that is needed here.
2. There is an air conditioning unit in the ceiling that drips water onto the floor during the summer. It's a major safety hazard. Fix it. It's been a known issue for years.
3. The organization of the pickleball play needs some management. There are a small number of players who cause issues with fairness during open play, which should be equally available to all. Some players try to monopolize the order of play to increase the games that they get to play. Quite a few of us who play all the time are unhappy about this. Most places have just one line of paddles and the next 4 play, which works fine. Our current system of 2 lines splitting winners and losers is frequently abused and people notice. There have been arguments and hurt feelings. The Y needs to organize it so that play is always fairly distributed among everyone and not monopolized by a few.
4. The parking lot was a mess. That has been fixed and is perfect now. Good work on that.
Convenient to Riverside residents and offers programming I enjoy.
I especially like the early men's group TGIW (Teaching God's Infinite Wisdom) each Wednesday morning at 6:30-7:30 am.
