The Y is a friendly, welcoming place! I’m an active senior and particularly enjoy Suzette’s instructional style in the variety of classes she leads. She doesn’t just put us through our paces but always makes an effort to educate us and help us understand the specific benefits to our health now and as we age.
Princeton YMCA has the best swimming instructors for young kids. Amanda Alvia-Smith is a great instructor and so thankful for her patience and consistency with my daughter. In a year, my daughter can swim multiple laps and I enjoy seeing her glide in the water while swimming backstroke.
The availability of instructors coupled with a place for kids to play between sessions is wonderful. The instructors are really attentive. They would benefit from having more oversight of the parents in swimming who interrupt the swimming sessions for the younger kids by standing on the edge of the pool and talking to their children during the session. Perhaps they should enroll in a parent and child class vs. disrupting the classes.
Suzette is an amazing instructor! She teaches the water exercise class and weight-lifting classes I go to. The lifeguards Ann and John are also terrific.
We've tried many aquatic programs around Princeton with our three boys - Princeton YMCA worked best for us. The boys have made solid progress with their swimming, they enjoy their group lessons and swim team experience.
