Overall the gym is clean and well maintained. Good selection of equipment (cardio and weights). The early morning staff is generally nice and friendly. So sure, I'd definitely recommend it. But it could be better...
There are issues that have existed for a really long time, though. For example, only two of the three men's showers work. I even brought in a showerhead to donate for the third shower, but it's the pipe sticking out of the wall that's the problem. It's been "under repair" for a few years now (serious). Also, the ceiling fans that provide air to all the treadmills no longer seem to work. At first it was just one that was broken - again, for easily two years. But now, none of them work. And that's where the air most needs to be circulating.
Also, a lot of members carry their stuff around the gym floor creating tripping hazards. One guy in particular (again, this is in the morning) carries a really large duffle and just sits it wherever he wants. I nearly tripped the other day and he just looked at me as if there was something wrong with me. There's a woman who regularly hangs her jacket and bag on one of the elliptical machines. People talk loudly on their cell phones while on the treadmill or elliptical machines. In general, there's not a lot of enforcing of the rules by the staff. I've talked to other members who agree. We're not going to say anything to other members because you never know if they might get aggressive. So we just end up having to tolerate others' bad behavior.
It really is a nice gym. I just wish they'd fix the things that are broken and spend more time walking around asking people to abide by the rules -- and less time hunched over the desk staring into their cell phones.
I love the staff, especially Kayla, who always has a smile on her face & is so helpful & encouraging. The Hillsborough location has the cleanest facility & bathrooms which is a huge plus for me. I joined a few weeks ago & haven’t missed a day! Thanks to my insurance, my membership is free! Special shout out to the Manager, Eileen, who runs a spotless gym & has awesome young people employed there! Thanks to all of you!
The staff is friendly and helpful. I am enjoying my personal training sessions with Natalie Graham very much. We keep each other laughing during my sessions so even though I am working hard I'm having some fun too.
The recent upgrades have been a positive experience at the Hillsborough location. More up-to-date equipment than the other Retro locations I have visited.

It opens on time...workers are cleaning (6:00 a.m. time slot) continuously. Management is making an attempt to be welcoming and to sponsor various activities.
