Camp on the Lake has always been a favorite for my son. To be able to disconnect from screens and go outside and play! My son has been attending Camp on the Lake since he was 6 and he is now 13. He has had a heart for this camp from the activities, friends and especially the counselors. The staff at the camp have always been beyond exceptional and leave an imprint on my sons life year after year. We are sad that this year will be his last as he will age out at the camp but the memories will last a lifetime.
The YMCA is the only place I ever take my kids for swim lessons. We always have a wonderful experience! The instructors are kind, caring and professional. I am always impressed with the results at the end of the swim sessions, my kids, swimming capabilities improve greatly! This last session, my daughter struggled a little being nervous to get into the pool and not only did her instructor try everything possible to make her comfortable, a second instructor took the time to work with her one on one.
loved the ease and efficiency. Appreciated the feedback from the coacheds after each session and that they really pushed them forward. My only feedback is with communication. It would be VERY helpful to receive an email prior to the 2wk session start day, regarding logistics, what to bring, etc. Thanks!
We have had positive experiences with both of our children learning to swim over the last several summers at Richardson YMCA. Instructors have been knowledgeable, encouraging, relational, and positive. We are so grateful!
Our swim coach J. Rodriguez was super patient and attentive to the kids. She always fully explained the skill and focused on each student as they took turns practicing it.
Highly recommend her.
Having swim lessons while child watch was available made my day easier. Miley was excellent with my daughter and her class and helped them Have fun while learning new water safety skills. My daughter made a lot of progress from being afraid of the water to asking to jump in by the last day.
We have a pool at home, so water safety is our main concern. My four year old daughter loves to play in the pool, but refused to put her face underwater or learn how to swim. We attempted swim lessons elsewhere and her fear of going under got worse! We tried swim lessons through the YMCA after a friend recommended it multiple times and were pleasantly surprised with our experience! My four year old daughter cried through her first lesson. Her instructor was kind and loving, but firm. After that first lesson, she did not have any tears and within the next couple lessons, she was floating on her back and swimming a short distance independently! She actually asked to continue swim lessons with the same instructor! Unfortunately, we are not able to this summer, but will be back next summer for sure! Thank you to the Richardson YMCA swim instructors and especially Ms. Miley! Ms. Miley was absolutely amazing!
The Y staff are friendly and helpful. One thing though, the Group exercise room is very dirty. The mirrors need to be cleaned (especially with the kids using the room during the summer,) and the floor needs to be swept/vacuumed regularly.
