It probably started with your salesman, Pete, selling things that couldn't be delivered and which are listed as options on Equinox's website (like remote-controlled lights). The actual pergola installation crew was great. They communicated well. They paid a lot of attention to the details, and the final installation was perfect. The real issues showed up when Lorenzo got involved. There was little to no communication from Lorenzo. He just showed up and did stuff (which wasn't done well). He mounted the power box sideways which put a vent opening at the top of the box which would have allowed water into it. He installed cornices and a gutter that were a different color than the rest of the pergola (which was bronze). He had the electrician install a clear cover over a white light switch with a grey face plate. It all looked terrible. I contacted Pete who coordinated with Lorenzo to come back out and fix the issues. Again, Lorenzo never communicated with us. He just showed up one day. He took care of most of the issues, but the replacement gutter (which was at least painted the right color) is an old style, not consistent with the modern, clean look of the rest of the pergola. Overall, it seemed like Lorenzo just wanted to finish the project with little to no regard for the quality of his work.
For a premium product, the final installation was well below my expectations, and I will actively recommend friends find another installer if they choose to have a pergola installed.

the job looks good, what concerns me is the installers did not follow the engineering details on how to attach the ledger bord to the house the screws were not long enough and not the correct diameter I am concerned a windstorm will blow the awing off the building

Hey Scott, we use upgraded HeadLOK fasteners to provide an excellent attachment for our ledger boards. We have found them to produce much better results and they are engineered to exceed the requirements of 3/8" lag screws. If you ever see the ledger board separating in any way let us know, but we have never had that happen when we have used these structural fasteners!

I was impressed from the first visit from the Royal Covers Representative. He arrived on time and prepared with product and color samples. He took measurements and was able to provide me with a complete estimate during the visit, after which I was able to go ahead and place my order on the spot. No waiting for someone to get back to me later. When it was time for installation, the construction team arrived promptly, was friendly, kept me informed and worked efficiently. They were done with construction before my pool pump came on at 8:50am. They also did a thorough clean-up afterwards. I cannot say enough good things about this company. Use them with confidence!
