The shop is incredible. Great staff and an awesome selection of some of the best brands in paddlesports. We purchased a B16 canoe during the Memorial day sale and had a great experience. Not that the money mattered so much, but at the time there was a promotion going on that was get a $100 gift card with the purchase of a boat. Not a make or break promo but I know margins are pretty lean so it was a nice bonus. We purchased the boat and had initially put a deposit down to secure it but then went ahead paid the rest of the invoice during the promotion to get the gift card. When I called to pay the balance I was told that it would not qualify for the promotion because we would be picking the boat up at a later date (outside of the promotion window despite us paying within the window). The person I spoke to informed me that the goal of the promotion was to free up space in the shop and warehouse and that by not picking the boat up we weren't meeting the requirements of the promo. Not a deal breaker by any means, but that small gesture would have been really appreciated.
Otherwise we've only had great experiences at Rutabaga. The boat pick-up experience was flawless. They were very helpful getting the boat onto my car and strapped down tight. I am lucky to have such a great shop in my area and will definitely be going back for other canoeing needs. I know they also have great relationships with the boat manufacturers so if I ever need any support with the canoe then I feel confident they will be able to give the help I'd need.

I had an incredibly positive experience purchasing two kayaks from Rutabaga Paddlesports. Even though I live about two hours south, I didn't hesitate to make the drive because of the EXCELLENT customer service I received via email. Rutabaga was very kind and patiently answered all my questions, which made me feel confident in my decision to go with them.
Upon arriving, I was impressed by their amazing store, which had a fantastic selection of kayaks and gear. The staff was equally impressive, and the purchase process was easy, even on a busy Memorial Day.
I'm absolutely thrilled with my new kayaks and so glad I purchased them from Rutabaga Paddlesports. I highly recommend this business to anyone looking for paddling equipment.
