I like how much attention is given to my children given the smaller class sizes. I also appreciate that they observe the children and create a learning path for the individual not necessarily for the group.

I've been a member of the YMCA on and off since I was a kid. the Salem Y especially is a center for community activity and is especially down to earth when Ys in the other areas can seem more like snobbish fancy health clubs....the Salem Y maintains it's integrity for serving all people.

I love the Salem Y! I love that you ask for feedback and you really listen! There is truly something for everyone here! I was delighted to find the cold plunge had been added. As soon as I find a bathing suit, I’m going to take the plunge!

I dont use the gym that much anymore although I used to. I love the mat pilates classes. I wish there were more classes offered to accommodate a typical work schedule at the salem location. If there was a 6am or 630am pilates class, I would be there daily. Its the main reason more of my friends dont join, due to the lack of pre-work classes.

Love the teachers. We have Ollie and Julia now, but have had others and they are all great. They work well with my daughter who doesn’t always listen but LOVES swim class and is always so excited to go.

There is a family feel to this YMCA. At the same time, there is a feeling of many cultures coming together, being recognized together and respected. This seems to be a rare commodity in our world today. I mostly come to the Y these days for Pilates class with Gina. There is a small group of us that are” regulars” and we have become our own little community. The size of this YMCA makes it feel welcoming and not overwhelming. Other nearby YMCA seem to be reaching towards a different population. They sometimes feel a little too polished for me. The machines in the gym in Salem might not be the newest, or state of the art, I don’t mind, as long as I can use them when I show up on occasion, they still help to keep me in better shape. If I would only use them more often, I would be even in better shape.😅
