Our 7 year old Sophia had the most amazing time at Garage 101 camp! It was thrilling to watch her enthusiasm learning songs and being part of the band team. The MOST amazing thing though was during the end of the week performance she got stage fright and froze up. The entire band came together to reassure her. The staff switch out bands to allow her to collect herself and when she returned to the stage with her band team they all rocked their songs together.
What I observed was a testament to not only teaching the kids about the power of music but creating an environment where all the members of the band worked together and supported one another.
We do about 7 different camps for our children throughout the summer and this one has had a lasting impact on our girl. She's already planning next year.
My daughter just started but I was so impressed with the level of expertise with the music instructor. I am looking forward to my daughter gsining experience in guitar, song writing, and sone vocals too.
We love this place! Teaching the instrument AND having the chance to play in a band is what sets School of Rock apart from the rest. The staff is exceptional, the program is solid, and the kids that attend are amazing too!!. If you haven't tried it out, we highly recommend that you give it a shot... :)
I love everything!! I have 2 very different kids. One jumped right into performance band while the other took lessons to figure it out. All the teachers are amazing at knowing what each kid needs. Not only do they learn music on their chosen instruments but they build confidence too. They also branch out from their chosen instrument to other instruments. It's a very supportive environment with active gig playing teachers teaching the kids. The experience they get is so much more than just playing an instrument. The school is like a family and they quickly embrace your family into theirs. It takes a village and this music village is teaching my kids so much more than I could have imagined or done on my own! It's truly a 'rocking' experience in the best possible way.
Everyone at SOR is really nice, very encouraging and supportive, and great with the kids. Plus, all of the teachers are very talented. Both of my sons are working on multiple instruments so sometimes they play two or three instruments during a 45 min lesson. And one is even working on songwriting. I can't say enough positive things about our experience at School of Rock.
it helps the kids with their inner talents, I never thought my kids could sing... and here they are singing and having fun, learning stage presence and a variety of songs. The teachers are very talented and patient too...
I love that it has built our child's self esteem and taught him to love many types of music. I love the family atmosphere of the Charlotte location and how flexible everyone is. The instructors are great!
The staff is so friendly to both the kids and the parents! They're also SO patient, and encouraging with their feedback. They go out of their way to report to the parent just what item(s) were worked on in the lesson, what the practice work is for the week, and what they plan to address in the next lesson - that level of keeping the parent in the loop was totally unexpected, and a real pleasure. Plus, they work with your child's schedule to make sure their student is getting the most they can out of the SOR program.
I love that my daughter Grace has met so many fantastic musicians...the instructors are so talented and committed to these kids! And she's made so many new friends. I also like that she's been exposed to a huge variety of music genres
