Love it all! The students are supportive, the instructors so talented (and great communicators with the kids and parents alike!), and the performances are a wonderful way for the kids to experience a real rock show!

Band practice make it social so kids like it, it exposes kids to classic rock music, they have the opportunity to try various instruments and/or voice. I like the the notes that Ryan adds after 101 practice so parents know what's going on.

I love that kids get a chance to try different instruments, work as a band, and perform.

Putting the kids in a great setting, giving them opportunity to perform live on stage, ability to experience other instruments and to collaborate with band members.

We just referred a friend into the program, so yes, we love it. My child has been attending for 5 years and has grown into a performance band group as well. He enjoys the social aspect of the school a lot. He's also grown more confident and relaxed in his performances. His personality is coming out more on stage and he enjoys being part of the group. He's becoming more versatile by learning both guitar and bass with an occasional keyboard lesson thrown in for good measure. The staff and teachers at his local SOR are supportive and very helpful. The school has grown its use of technology in service of families and does a great job of problem-solving when I run into issues. I'm a fan!

One of the great things about sports is it's ability to create a peer group of friends for a kid, a group where they feel like they belong. The School of Rock does the exact same thing. If kids are interested in music, a whole new group of friends is opened up to them. Since they play shows with different lineups for every song, they end up bonding with a pretty large group. In our case, that's directly led to our son's forming a band with some of those friends. Second, I'd say there is an inner confidence born of spending a lot of time on stage in front of people. That's an invaluable life skill going forward. Finally, it's great they get exposed to a lot of music (of our youth :-) and learn to play an instrument with the discipline that entails. No one wants to disappoint the group they're playing with in front of a large they practice a lot and get better rapidly. As for SOR Dallas, they have a great team, a truly caring group, and the kids love them.

The stage experience

I started playing three years ago, practicing on and off with a few different instructors, and was on the verge of giving up due to the lack of progress I'd been making. I couldn't even make it through one song in its entirety. I thought I'd give it one last attempt and signed up for the school of rock. Instructor Dustin [LAST NAME REMOVED] had me confidently playing five songs in a little over a month. And soon after I reached my goal of playing live. Cannot thank Dustin enough. Wonderful guitar instructor.

Love the one on one the students have with instructors, but most of all the skills and knowledge that are taught to prep them for their dreams and aspirations in the music industry.

The kids are introduced to a variety of music, from Motown to Megadeath; SOR is a supportive, safe environment for kids; tons of positive peer pressure. Fun way to learn music.

performance based, fun, quick to learn "real" songs and not just chords, theory and drills.
