I play in bands, but School of Rock camp was a much more efficient way to introduce traditional rock instruments to my son. Between having positive interactions with peers and teachers at camp, he was able to understand the attraction of learning an instrument and of choosing one or two to focus on. The experience was invaluable to us. Very thankful that School of Rock exists in our town!

The instructors are very knowledgeable, approachable and friendly. They truly want you to not only succeed, but to have fun while learning. Study Hall and Grad Program are great opportunities for those of us who learn best in a group setting and who are looking to make more friends.

Programs are great, I wish there was more flexibility in allowing kids to get into shows with a friend or allow them to have one of their top 3 choices. My son ended up stopping his several year run of performing in the show program after feeling like he did not get into shows that were of interest to him. i like the old system you had where they could rank their show preferences and that allowed us to see when the shows were occurring. Now if you pick your top choice and it is not on a day that works for you , then you have no ability to alter your selection to indicate your top choice on days that would work for you. It is a huge time commitment and very expensive now, so if they show is not something they are excited about, it is difficult to justify spending so much money to participate.

Our family has been with School of Rock, Oak Park since 2013 and we have been very happy with, not just the musical education they have received, but also the confidence to perform in front of others, learning the importance of teamwork, and also how to help and encourage others who may be just starting out or not feel comfortable.

Jimmy K. Is an excellent percussion teacher. Seasonal graduate school themes, practice, and gigs are great, though I miss Reid and would like to work with more coaches who can gives notes on instruments as well as vocals.

The instruction feels pretty flexible, and thus tailored to my son's skill level and interests. The emphasis on performance is great, it really keeps the kids engaged and excited. I appreciate that even in Rock 101 the kids are exposed to a good variety of music styles.
