The camaraderie was great, working together toward the performance at end of week was awesome. The only thing that took it down a notch was that my son who is a huge music lover felt pretty left out by the rock-centric thing happening there. Which, of course there was because it's a 90s Rock camp. I think it just might have been helpful to be move inviting of people who don't already know this music somehow. But that's a tiny nitpick.

Individual approach to students and support of their creativity.

the pressure to improve.

Love how friendly and supportive the instructors and staff are. It's such a solid program, I was surprised at how quickly I progressed, so much faster than trying it on my own!

Our son is so enthusiastic about the Rookies program! We love that he is learning about different instruments. I would like the teacher comments to be consistent after every lesson where they share a few sentences on what was covered as it’s tough to get an accurate report from a 6yo. Overall two thumbs up!

I like that my son seems to really like it. However, it seems that sometimes the group dynamics are a little frustrating for him; but, then again, he needs to learn to be more assertive.

Lots of options. Lots of fun.

My kid has fun on their instrument now, she previously was less enthusiastic.

My child’s teachers for the Rookies class have been perfect! They’ve made an encouraging, light hearted and engaging experience for the kids where they can experiment with different instruments in a no pressure sort of way. My child has also found a new love for good music which I very much appreciate :-)

There is a certain element of authenticity and cool that keeps my kid engaged. The instructors are nothing but kind and encouraging. He loves the music. 10/10 would recommend.

Very patient with my son and accommodating. Inclusive, not very price accessible for underserved families but over all a great program

The instructors rock, they are kind, patient, and knowledgeable. Also great responsive administrative staff.

Very efficient yet fun curriculum. I'm impressed by how quickly my child is learning and I attribute that to the way you've set up private lesson plus class learning plus home learning. Great atmosphere my child comes out glowing!

Musical genre options are very diverse Staff are really enthusiastic and obviously love music

We had a few hiccups to start and I so appreciate the staff's help problem-solving it. It's clear they want folks to feel wanted/welcomed and have some fun. Thank you!

Love how they build to performance. My child NEVER complains about practicing at home - so different to other music programs we have tried. Love that the teachers treat them as adults - even the 9/10 year olds. And I really love the mixed ages - so rare that we get that in after school programs.

We were hesitant to sign Gavin up as he was already 15 years old and had never played the keyboards before, but I’m so glad we took the leap! Gavin really enjoys his lessons with Octavio and has enjoyed the process of playing in each band as well. This is his third season and we are looking forward to his fourth coming up this summer. Gavin feels very understood when he works with the teachers, especially his private lesson teacher, Octavio. He loves getting to learn songs he already likes and music genres he enjoys. It brings him a lot of joy. He also has enjoyed being exposed to new music and artists he didn’t know before. And he’s also excited to try the recording camp so he can learn more about that too. Gavin was not interested in performing at all when we originally started, as it was pretty anxiety producing, but he just did his fourth performance (2 regular shows and 2 preview performances) and he’s starting to relax and enjoy the shows more and more. On the Beastie Boys show he was led by Cory who ran a tight ship. Gavin LOVED it. He really respected how Cory required the best out of everyone and it showed in the level of everyone’s performance. Gavin gets a big sense of pride and accomplishment from being in the shows. He also really takes pride in being cast in songs and is proud when he is trusted to take on more parts as he improves. The entire staff from admin to teachers have been amazing. The shows are so fun to watch, seeing each kid be able to contribute in their own way. It’s quite extraordinary. School of Rock is a very special place.

Flexibility for kids’ interests as well as schedules, talented instructors who are good with kids, really fun approach to learning music.

Great instructors and fun songs to play. Performances give something to showcase new skills.
