We recently had the pleasure of learning from Mike at School of Rock San Mateo for my 7-year-old son. His expertise as a drummer is evident from the get-go, but what truly sets him apart is his patience and ability to engage with young learners.
Mike has a knack for making the learning process smooth and enjoyable. He carefully selects rock songs that resonate with his students, making lessons both fun and educational.
For any parent looking for a drum teacher who can inspire and teach their child effectively, I highly recommend Mike. With his combination of skill, patience, and ability to connect with kids, he's truly exceptional.
My son has been attending SoR San Mateo Performance Program for about 6 months now, and his time there has been consistently positive. I'm delighted to have found the school because I wanted him to connect with other kids who share his interest. His guitar lessons and band practice sessions have significantly enhanced his guitar skills. The performances at the end of the season has been enjoyable for him and for us, parents, too. Also, the staff/coordinators are approachable and quick to respond to questions or concerns.
Hunter loves SOR! He is always so excited to attend on Tuesdays, he always leaves feeling so confident in his progress, if he done wonders for his self confidence.
Thank you, thank you!
The main reason we enjoy the programs at The School of Rock are the people that teach, inspire and care for our children/students.
The passion for the community, cultures and journeys with music shared by our talented instructors are three additional reasons we enjoy the programs at The School of Rock.
For the instructors to have the trust and care of a parent of a student(s) is, in my humble opinion, is one of the highest levels of respect and admiration examples of positive feedback for a professional.
We admire our instructors: David England (Guitar-Zia, 101-Naya), Chris Guthridge (Zia-band), and Joao Cozza (Drums-Naya) and we appreciate the joy and expertise our instructors share with our children with music.
I’ve been taking guitar lessons with Chris and am also in the adult band that he directs. Chris not only a talented multi-instrumentalist, but an incredibly patient and supportive teacher who tailors lessons to what I want to progress on e.g. working on theory, explaining how scales are incorporated into soloing, playing slide, and more. His passion for music and breadth of music knowledge is inspiring and clearly comes across in lessons and rehearsal.
A chance for kids to "act like they're in a band" - basically, to get up on a stage and experience how a music group works, what it takes, what they like about it and what they don't.
