my kids are very happy. Having the opportunity to practice with other kids in a band is amazing with the support of the private class and the app to practice at home.
I do recommend the school to other people interested in singing or playing. The combination of musical expertise with a unique approach, coupled with the superb energetic instructors makes this a wonderful experience. The variety of music is a real plus.
School of Rock is incredibly well organized, and the teachers are great! My daughter loves the singing lesson, and has a great time at the group lesson!
hi I have a few recommendations:
- have one singing coach per band so the coach can teach consistant harmonies to each singer in the band.
- have the singing coach for each band pick the songs that each singer sings lead on.
- have the singing coach attend some of the rehearsals so they know what to teach their singers in the one on on e sessions.
I have just completed my second term at Vancouver SOR with the Adult Program and I completely love it! The owners, Al and Mike, are friendly, and it is very clear that they are working very hard to make the Van School of Rock an amazing place to learn and play music. The staff (and Al the owner) are all talented musicians, and all seem to really have a passion for working with others who want to play music too. I can happily say that my musicianship has improved in amazing ways since I started with SOR 6 months ago. It has been a great experience with weekly lessons learning theory, technique and then having to learn songs quickly for the weekly band sessions so that we can play them LIVE at very cool venues. And, my bandmates are really amazing people too, playing together is really the highlight of my every week, we laugh, we learn and we really like each other too.
I would highly recommend Vancouver School of Rock. The quality of instruction, amount of time playing with a band (with our maestros who are hilarious and so talented) and the fact that you get to play at 2 rockin' venues per term is well worth the monthly fee.
Vancouver School of Rock ` 10 thumbs up!
Learning music by playing in a band is unlike any other musical training I've had. I played classical music -- Royal Conservatory, orchestra and marching band - as a child and into university but this training is inspiring and exciting! Band practice is one of the highlights of my week and I have made some incredible friends as well. I recommend it to all my friends and I think there might be some takers....!
My son went to a spring break week-long camp. First camp for him. It was well organized from registration to clear instructions on how to be ready for first day. I like the pick up window of half an hour. I was blown away at the camp show on the last day of how much the kids learned in a week and worked on their stage presentation. The staff were very friendly and I felt welcome in the school space.
Literally everything. My son has had such a great time in the spring camp. He has loved playing with a group, he likes the teachers, and he's loved being exposed to new music - both listening and playing. The best part is the teaching and the music of course - but he's also loved the opportunity to try a couple of new instruments. And the facility is so fun and feels like it's a place for real musicians. He's engaged and happy and excited to go to SoR every day. I'm so happy for him. Thank you for giving him such an incredible experience. I will definitely be recommending!
I love School Of Rock Vancouver. Teachers are excellent, students are friendly, programming is educational, and the venues in which we perform are accommodating.
