Great staff, friendly atmosphere, family-friendly environment. I like that I can visit multiple locations and have access to different programming and classes. You get a lot of value for your money!
All the options that are available - track, machines, free weights, etc.
You should have more stretch benches available as older folks find it hard to stretch and do exercises on the floor, mainly because it's difficult to get up.
It is a community of people who are willing to help. They are always welcoming and encouraging. The staff by enlarge, are representative of that same ethos.
The Oakland Y has exceptional courses and super exceptional instructors. It's a great community and collaborative atmosphere for all participants and the community.
We like that the gym area is very quiet, people are courteous and even use the supplies to wipe down the equipment. We also appreciate the walking path upstairs as we can be pleasantly distracted by younger folks playing basketball. The pool! We joined just to have access to the pool. A dream would be if it fit our schedule all seven days a week - 5 days a week it’s filling our desired schedule. The lifeguards are professional and pleasant, the rules are clear and posted, children are well supervised during open swim/family swim. South Oakland is a really good YMCA - and it has a parking lot!
