The "pay as you go" model is a positive differentiator for Striation 6. However, I would not recommend Striation 6 to anyone who focuses on cardio fitness and that's what most of my friends are looking for.
I think the staff, concept, and atmosphere are great. I find the physical space unattractive and confining. I yearn for windows and calming colours. I suppose this doesn't help you much unless you are planning a move, but I would recommend it to a friend but add that it is not a very good space.
Sorry, but you asked.
You doubled self-directed gym session costs, effectively removing the sole reason to use a pay as you go gym. Anyone using striation 5+ times a month might as well get a Goodlife membership
PROS:
- friendly and approachable staff
- location
- facility layout
- diverse programs
- variety of equipment
- clean change rooms and fitness area
Cons:
- could use mirrors at squat racks
- sound system could use an upgrade and it would be great to hear music throughout the whole facility rather than just the main exercise area.
I'd love to have women's barbells (35 lbs) and training barbells (15 lbs) that fit into a squat rack. Sometimes the men's bar is too heavy when you're learning something new.
I also wish that the kettle bells and other equipment in that side room wasn't made unavailable when that room is being used for a class.
