The atmosphere is extremely welcoming and those who work there are so nice. My daughter has expressed how much she enjoys this location and is excited to tell me about her session. We’ve had an excellent experience with Sylvan Leaning Center in Castro Valley. The environment is supportive, well-organized, and truly focused on student growth. A special thank you to Jonadel and Vanessa—both are incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring. They take the time to understand each student’s needs and explain concepts clearly, which has made a noticeable difference in confidence and performance. Their dedication and positive attitude make learning enjoyable. We’re very grateful for the outstanding support and highly recommend this tutoring center to any family looking for quality academic guidance.

So far my daughter has been having a good experience when tutoring for math with Sylvan. Her tutor is patient and explains all steps clearly. I begin to see her progress in the math class and better scoring on math tests.

We found Sylvan by doing some online research to help our 8 year old twins with reading. They have only had 18 sessions and have progressed so much. We are very Happy and would recommend them to anyone that has a child that’s struggling. The staff is very friendly and helpful, we couldn’t ask for anything more.

We started Sylvan over the summer to help our soon to be 5th grader avoid the summer slump, and hopefully start to catch up in reading and math. Kiddo has an IEP, and had been struggling more as they've been approaching middle school. Truthfully, kiddo doesn't want to go to tutoring, but also doesn't seem to mind going, and jumps out of the car and heads in cheerfully each session. They provide a positive environment and incentives to continue to stay focused during each session. We waited to write a review until the middle of the school year to evaluate progress based on Sylvan evaluations, standardized school tests, and reflection from kiddos teachers. All are in agreement; kiddo didn't lose as much ground as last summer, standardized tests show more improvement over this fall than last fall, and teachers are in agreement that there's been a shift in confidence - kiddo is more confident, and more engaged than last year. Our biggest challenge is that this is EXPENSIVE, and the financing is a real challenge for our family, but we've used their zero-interest loan options to continue through this academic year, because it's making a real difference, and we know how important kiddos education is. We asked kiddo to include their review, below, so you know the child's perspective. From kiddo, in 5th grade: Sylvan is helping me to do better at school. I like the word games, and sometimes I like the reading. It was easy when I first went there, and it's easier now, but I'm doing harder work. I hope that I can get all the tokens so that I can get more prizes! My favorite prize so far that I wanted was a stuffie boba, but someone else got it first, so now I want the snake. If I work hard, I can get more tokens!

Our experience has exceeded all of my expectations. My daughter has specific learning needs and Sylvan takes the time to understand and meet her where she’s at. This isn’t worksheets and supervision, it’s hands on instruction and personalized lesson selection. Every teacher my daughter has had so far; Deven, LuAnn and Kyle, have been amazing. She loves the motivation station where she gets to redeem earned tokens for prizes. She leaves with the biggest smile on her face and asks me when she goes back! Academically, after only a few sessions I am already seeing an improvement in her math! Liset took her time to explain my daughter’s assessment results and answered all of my questions. She gave experienced advice that I needed. Madison and Jonadel make my daughter feel welcomed and comfortable, from the first day assessment to now. Thank you, Sylvan :)

My kids enjoy attending, and the teachers are nice. The tuition may be on the high end, but it is worth it when the kids are able to get back on track or get ahead educationally.

So far, my son loves Sylvan. He is actually learning fast and able to comprehend the material he reads better. He now attempts to spell words on his own without actually saying “ oh! It’s hard! I can’t spell!” As a parent, I’m very pleased to see him learn and grow and becoming more confident.
