As foster parents of older kids, we find trauma often has a detrimental impact on a child's education. Over the years, we've had 4 different kids attend Sylvan consistently. The progress they've made goes beyond grades. Some have learned to read, others have caught up on math skills they were lacking, but the best part is their new attitudes toward school and recognizing the importance of education. When they have some success at Sylvan, they can walk into a class room with their head held a little higher.
Our student is really experiencing the difference now that chunk reading was introduced to her. Also, she is being extra intentional about second guessing herself when testing! The Brabsons
In less than two years Sylvan's program closed a nearly four-year education gap for our adopted teen. She came to us struggling to pass her core classes and now she complains about kids wanting to copy her work because they now think of her as one of the "smart kids". It's been a great boost to her self-confidence.
Sylvan has done a wonderful job for our son. He loves going. The staff has been so good working with him in teaching and focusing in on what he needs. The staff has been very friendly to us and they listen, to us no matter what questions we have . They are a great group..
Communication is great. Being treated like a human. Having someone listen to you about your child’s struggles, and then come up with a custom plan to address those needs has been amazing. My child is already making progress :)
My son has been attending Sylvans for couple years now and I have seen a big improvement in school, he likes going to Sylvans! The staff they are all very nice! Kevin even attends my son’s IEP meetings he is always very helpful! Thank you Sylvans
