I have been a member of the Tacoma Center YMCA for over 40 years and have an appreciation for the cleanliness and maintenance of the facility and equipment. When travelling and attending other gyms around the country the Y stands above them in every facet. The staff in the early morning is welcoming and personable and the sense of belonging to a community is evident. Many friendships have been formed at the Y as well as business contacts and connections. What else could you ask for?
I really like the not so early spin classes at 9:30 AM. The class isn't too early in the morning or too late in the day. I also like that I have privacy in the locker room. Unlike the Pearl Street Y there are no little boys running around watching me undress or climbing under the stalls while I use the restroom.
I have always enjoyed the downtown Tacoma Center Y. It’s always clean, both the pool and hot tub never are enjoyable. I prefer a larger pool but it’s my go to Y when lessons completely occupy pools at Lakewood and Pearl Street. Their weight room is excellent as well!
I go to Pearl Street Y. I used to go to Tacoma center years ago. That's the beauty of where we are. There are three YMCAs in a 3 mile radius... you choose. The Y has been a stable, positive and fun place for me. I am so inspired by the Y community. I do classes with a woman who is around 85 and she shows up consistently and could kick my bum. I love that and I hope to be one of these people. Motion is lotion. Get moving to stay moving!
I like the sense of community and the variety of group classes. The indoor track is perfect for running, rain or shine. The young adult discount also allows me to afford the membership, I'm greatly appreciative of the pricing!
