I enjoy the workout classes (Body pump, body attack, and the yoga-Pilates), the track above the gym, and all the workout equipment. The new machine additions and turf is nice. Just saw theres pickleball, so I might try it out.
Just want to note, that it would be great if the cleaning crew would also sweep the racquetball courts. They are slippery when you play on them, due to dirt on floors, they don’t have traction like the basketball court. Slippery is a potential cause for injuries while playing. Also can the colored plyos boxes be put back on the 5th floor, some members would use them.
I love the instructors; they've very wholesome and helpful. I like that they take feedback from students.
One thing I wish for, though, is that every new Y member get an orientation on group fitness etiquette. The instructors are too kind to speak up, but as a yoga class attendee, it bothers me when people show up 10-15 minutes into class, let the doors slam behind them, and don't silence their phones. People who are new to yoga classes (or maybe not new but just don't care) return mats without cleaning them despite the signs on the doors about it. It's very rude and disruptive. The time change for the Wednesday evening class introduced a lot of new people who are very inconsiderate to the zen space we're trying to create in a yoga class.
The facility was top notch. You all have something for every age group. The location has great parking also which is very important for downtown. The staff was helpful and friendly as well. Thanks!!
I embrace the YMCA. My youth has been awakened in the ageing process that I am now experiencing. Once retired, I no longer had the social interaction with people. The programs that ForeverWell has offered, silver sneakers, dancing, indoor walking track, jogging, gym, and the best Aquatics how refreshing, after an enduring workout. It's a home away from home. The opportunities are so encouraging it gives me a different perspective in my ageing lifestyle. My health issues have improved; I have been able to eliminate surgery. God Bless You All at the YMCA for all you do. Amen
The gym has excellent equipment. The classes are created with all interests in mind. The facility ioffees lots of activities. The people are friendly but also serious about fitness.
