Thompson Gas has fair prices and a billing system that makes it easy to manage my budget. I have never run out of gas since switching to Thompson Gas several years ago, and I do not have to call them for a refill of my tank. They manage the gas usage for me and fill my tank when needed. My overall cost is considerably less than it was when I had Suburban Propane.
Real people.. Thompson Gas is a huge company but the employees there don't operate like most companies their size. I can call and get a local person with almost no wait time; actually I'm not sure I've ever waited on hold. They are helpful and make your needs a priority. This isn't just one particular person, it's every person I've ever spoke to there.
For example recently we ran out of propane as we forgot to check the gauge until we were under 5%. I'd like to say this is our first time doing this but it's basically how we roll. Thompson Gas came out but at less than 5% we of course ran out before they arrived. Nobody was home and their policy is when empty they have to perform a leak check before filling, which they gladly do but need authorization to do so and someone has to be present for the test. Not a new policy for us as we are veterans at running out of propane; some might say OG's of the 0% club (or nobody says that I'm not sure).
I called once home and they sent someone out the very next day and got us squared away. Amazing service? Absolutely! Yet we wouldn't be OG's if we weren't on our own level of self-inflicted pain. When the driver delivered I had a tight schedule and once he was done filling the tank and doing the outside leak test I had to go. The driver, Danny I believe, was a bit hesitant. He relayed he'd like to test inside the house as well as re-light all our propane appliances as a courtesy. I respectfully declined and signed the form indicating so; although Danny asked again after declining.
Of course my oversight was realizing my wife would be home before me and finding the stove and water heater wouldn't light. Also a strong smell of the propane odorant was present; super common with air in the lines after running out of propane (like I said not our first propane rodeo). By the time I got home my wife had already called Thompson Gas after hours line, was about to call the fire department and had I been any later likely the national guard. Luckily I was able to avoid the last two.
Unfortunately some unlucky person at ThompsonGas ended up talking to my wife at 9:30 that night which we had to apologize for the call and at that point I had everything up and running. Oh you might ask why doesn't ThompsonGas offer an automated gauge that sends results directly to them and they fill it automatically when it hits a level the customer determines, they do.
At any rate what I'm saying is ThompsonGas is awesome!
Thompson is the first propane company to ever recommend that i change out the gauges on my 55-year-old tank. I've had other companies inspect my tank and approve it. They never commented on the rust around the gauges and the long-term problems it would cause if left as is.
I had them replace my gauges and fill my tank for what it would cost to just fill my tank with no repairs. Thompson has worked with me, and I appreciate them for being so concerned with my issues and not just wanting to get their money up front.
I have the most faith in a company that I haven't had for quite a few years now. If you're looking for old fashion customer care, give them a call.
