I got my haircut done by Sada in the Kingsway Mall.
I had been nervous about getting a haircut done for years because I had been balding and had a poor experience with a different barber in 2022. So I lingered outside the shop and watched a Harry Potter movie they playing inside the shop. After a bit the girl behind the counter asks if I was just watching or thinking, and I told her I was anxious, and was looking at the bundles. She let me know there’s no obligations at all and I’m welcome to sit and watch till closing or to come back another time.
Eventually there was an opening with no other clients waiting their turn and I walked back inside, I was stuttering while explaining to one of the barbers about my hair loss and wanting her opinion on what I should do. After seeing my balding mixed with my long hair, she suggested I get a buzzcut but reaffirmed that it’s totally my choice, but I got what I wanted which was a proper opinion without disgust. So I agreed and she started to cut my hair, she started asking me how I have hair loss and being very respectful and curious to my responses, while I explained my condition. Sada made me very comfortable, was very gentle and kind. I ended up deciding to go bald and she kept me talking the whole time to help me through it, as I freaked out on the inside at the big change. She gently told me that “It is alright when this happens, some of us have odd genetics and we bald early but that’s why we are here to help; Just like how we cannot change the weather but we can smile at the rain and enjoy the breeze.”
I asked her to match my facial as well, though she made sure to ask what parts I liked, so she kept my goatee and a light mustache and she expertly cut it all gently.
After the cut was all done I was given choice of a free pop and both her and the woman behind the desk made me smile with compliments and had me beaming. Paid my bill happily with a 66% tip & I took one of the shop’s business cards with Sara’s name written down so I won’t forget if I get to come back to the city of Edmonton. The mirror wasn’t as scary for the time being, so Thank You Sada & Tommy Gun’s
Barber took the time to give me an assessment of my hair type and the best cut suitable for my face shape, etc., as well as hairline and so on really appreciate the feedback cut was the best ever
My hair dresser did a really good job on my hair. Cassie I think her name was. The staff was friendly as well. I'll definitely be back for another hair cut for sure.
