I’m very appreciative with the help we received from Charlie. Yes he is an employee for Trek but the knowledge he has comes with decades of experience from being a cyclist. This man has patience and kindness with dealing with all varieties of customers. From the weekend warrior to the person who asks if the bike can handle it if they rode off a curb. This person really did not know anything about bikes and I was able to witness Charlie with his patience and understanding, answering all the customers questions with kindness and sold this lady two bikes that would work for her and her son. I’ve been searching for a bike for my wife, who will be doing a 3 day charity bike ride. Being a cyclist myself I did my research and found the Domane was a great fit for my wife. Charlie took so much time explaining every detail about the bike and fitted her for a test ride because this is my wife’s first road bike. My wife kindly asked if he would accompany us for this test ride and his face lit up. My wife wanted to be sure she was shifting properly and everything was a good fit. Even though she felt comfortable, Charlie recommended one size smaller but unfortunately they did not have it in stock. Any other store would have just sold us that bike. At that moment I knew he wasn’t just trying to get a sale, he was looking out for what was the best fit for my wife even if they didn’t have it in any surrounding Chicago land stores. Charlie didn’t stop there, he found her size but it was in Florida and asked if we were willing to wait 7-10 days but he understood if we went a different route . I really respected that he didn’t sell us the wrong size bike. I wasn’t planning on a bike for myself but I told him, I’ll take this bike and go ahead and have the bike shipped from Florida for my wife. So we waited and sure enough 10 days later her bike came in, he fitted her and she was set. So sure enough he is adjusting the bike I’m getting and we both realized the bike was too small and luckily they had one size bigger in stock and I ended up purchasing a bike for my wife and myself. It was just a pleasure talking to Charlie and him helping us with the purchase of our bikes. This man is truly an asset to the Trek company, a cyclist guru and a gentleman. Thank you Charlie you are truly appreciated.

Charlie was absolutely fantastic. Im a completely beginner and initially went in for a quick bike fitting, but was treated to a whole masterclass! He took his time explaining everything, from bike mechanics to the purpose of each piece of clothing and accessory. I left feeling truly prepared to start my road biking journey, both in mindset and in gear. He made sure I understood what I was buying, why it made sense for my safety and enjoyment, and was mindful of budget the whole way through.
10/10 would recommend this shop to anyone!

Last week, Charlie informed me well on the phone about options for upgrading tires on my road bike. Yesterday, I met him in person at the store: he was even more impressive when he swapped the tires within a short time. He’s a fount of information on cycling, and we shared anecdotes about some of our common rides. I recommend this Bucktown venue with the highest of all possible accolades - mostly because of the expertise of employees working there like Charlie.
