I am a handball player. I am at the Trotter Y at least twice a week.
I am the "self-appointed" safety and maintenance observer at Trotter, Tellepsen, and Weekley.
I do have a complaint on maintenance that I have reported, but it is not resolved. There is almost always a portable blower in the men's locker room blowing into the toilet/urinal. That would indicate to me that there is a water leak or a ventilation issue. I sent an email to Gloria Guzman on Oct 31st. She was going to look into it. On January 21st I noticed that the second urinal flush valve was leaking every time it was flushed. I sent an email to Leslie Zimmer and it was fixed the next day. The blower continued to show up. Several weeks ago, I saw the person set up the blower and asked him what the purpose was. He said he mops the area around noon every day and the blower dries it. I am not sure why a non-wet area needs to be mopped at noon every day.
We mostly use treadmills and bikes. Also some weight machines. Would like better programming on tv.- fewer cartoon channels! Would like Astro games, msnbc.,
I like the group exercise classes, especially Zumba. I regularly attend Tuesday and Thursday evening Zumba classes, as well as Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon (my favorite.) I occasionally use the workout equipment.
I like that they are designed to be used by a large cross section of the population. The quality of the facility, instructors and lifeguards is excellent. Even the sweet woman that greets you at 6:00 AM is always warm and very welcoming.
We are offered classes that we feel we can do as “mature adults.” The instructors are awesome!
Carol & Teri are so cheerful & helpful & we look forward to their greeting us!
Monica makes sure that the schedules work & she finds great subs which is fun to experience new things.
The men’s showers on the first level need to be fixed. They either don’t work or are too hot. I actually will go to Post Oak YMCA just for that reason sometimes.
