We love everything about Turtle River: the small family atmosphere, the wonderful nurturing teachers and creating a learning environment that fosters independence, love for learning and emotional intelligence.
The teachers are well trained and wonderful with my children. The school is authentic Montessori which is evident in the beautiful classrooms and the demeanor of the teachers. We love the security guard, Mr Rob, and we love the school administration.
Every member of the Instructional staff created a warm and caring environment where all students can display there true personalities and learn at their highest levels.....Love TRM
I like the teachers and the Montessori method. However, let me tell you what I don’t like and you can improve. I find irritating how often we are asked to donate to the school. For example, for the festival of India, the teachers asked one of the parents to buy several pots of clay from Walmart. Why doesn’t the school buy in bulk and provides to the teachers of all the classes? Then the donations of pumpkins for the decoration and selling at the Harbouside market, the school could buy them in bulk at a fraction of the price that parents buy the pumpkins. And finally, the trip for the conference in DC should not fall on the parents to donate and fund the trip. The school should pay for it.
Both of my children have attended the pre-primary and primary years with Turtle River, and we couldn’t be happier with the calming and very nurturing environment that was provided. Classes and lessons are structured to provide confidence, independence, and most importantly, empathy. The teachers utilize all the patience and sensitivity when children need to be redirected, and all the different personalities and behaviors are considered when redirection is needed. We’ve had a wonderful experience at Turtle River.
Our daughter has blossomed since attending Turtle River. We even commute from Stuart for it. We had toured many Montessori schools but knew this was one of the best.
TRM is a one of a kind institution - it has created a beautiful environment for children to learn and grow, has teachers who are deeply invested in the wellbeing of their students and a school community that is hard to find.
