Dorothy is a wonderful yoga teacher. She is knowledgeable about the body and is encouraging.
She gives alternative positions if a person can't do one.Wonderful attitude. It is a pleasure to participate in her class. I always feel stronger afterwards.
The activities that I have participated in have been amazing. They don’t just meet the physical, but also emotionally and socially. The class instructors are kind and make you feel part of the group as well as classmates.
Our local Y has some very good and talented people serving in leadership positions and teaching various classes. As always, people and strong leadership make strong, viable, and productive organizations.
There is a multitude of activities available but one of the best programs imaginable--in my opinion--for men and women over 50 years old, is the EGYM program that I have now participated in for one and one-half years (since December 2024). It consists of eleven machines, clustered on the second floor, which help to strengthen one's upper body, core, and lower body. The machines are self-adjusting and compare our biological ages with our chronological ages. These machines update after every seven or so visits. It takes about 20 minutes to cycle through the machines, and I do three cycles on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, each visit taking about an hour. The Y provides an app where one can see the evidence of his progress.
The exercise area is first rate. the abdominal crunch machine has pads that are cracking. It's a little crowded around the barbell area in the main room.
