The Yoga class with Marj gives supportive and restorative techniques with careful instructions and demonstrations, supports both beginners and experienced participants, with excellent feedback as needed as we progress through the movements. This is my favorite class!
The swimming pool lifeguards are always quite attentive and helpful with watching the children and adults in and around the pool for safety and care. I spoke with one guard who had recently renewed their license who took strength and pride and deep care for working for the YMCA and about what matters for looking after those in the swimming pool.
The 2 weekly water aerobics classes I attend have excellent and informed instructors, with invigorating and restorative moves. Both instructors were attentive and watched to make sure that each student was getting support and not over doing or over reaching.
Question: Could we get more than 2 classes per week please?
Thanks so very much,
Elaine
-The YMCA stands out because it is not like other moderately priced health clubs.
Most Y's (like the White Rock Lake branch I go to) have swimming pools. Along with a large number of various cardio machines, like treadmills, sit-down cycling, stairmaster-like machines, etc. And of course a "circuit" of various exercise machines for different muscles, as well as free weights.
The facilities are kept quite clean, from the floors to the floors-to-high-ceilinged windows to the equipment. There are even small clean-wipes dispensers (free) around the workout areas.
The attendants are friendly and helpful to the guests who work out.
And very importantly, because the YMCAs make a strong commitment to the community where they're located, you can have confidence this is a health-club chain THAT WILL BE AROUND, unlike so many clubs that are here today, maybe gone next month.
And our membership allows us to use YMCA facilities anywhere in the country.
My only REAL greivance, with any YMCA, is that they are NOT promoting recycling. I see clear plastic water bottles and such in the trash by the door all the time and frankly it makes my heart sink. I would think the Y's, being of a gym with values, would also be proponents of being Earth's caretakers.
Also, being it's 2025 and the affairs of the world it is really suprising, depressing and ... disappointing.
The consistency and professionalism of our instructor, (Kristy Wol), the welcoming atmosphere, the smiles at the front desk, and the sense of community. I love seeing the kids there, and appreciate the mix of programs for all ages, young and old.
I love that you have quality instructors, especially for the seniors, the active older adults. That's important to me in that an injury can take a long time to recover from. I also love that you have information lunches and celebrations for us. Thank you so much.
