I have been a Y guy since 1970, when I first joined a Y in Cleveland, Ohio. Then, arriving in AVL in 1978, I continued my running and tennis, and first joined the Downtown Y in 1984, where I played hand ball and ran outside, and finally took some spinning classes. With the 2009 arrival of the Expresso Bikes, I moved my active membership to the Woodfin Y, where I have been riding the Expresso Bikes for the past 16 years. I am closing in on 21,000 Expresso miles. ( I use other machines and studios there too.) During my early Y years, I was a Y donor. I became a Y Expresso Bike fundraiser the last several years, breaking the $3,000 barrier for the first time this past February, 2025.
The Woodfin Y is a clean, welcoming facility, and my second home. Has a friendly, very knowledgeable Staff, and great equipment. I could not ask for more.
