Camp Carter offers a safe and engaging environment where children can learn, grow, and make lasting memories. There was an attentive staff, diverse activities, and a focus on building confidence and independence.
They were inclusive for my child with adhd, GAD. ASD. This is my daughters 3rd yr attending and she always comes home feeling a sense of belonging and new found independence and growth.
This was my son’s first year ever at camp Carter. The first day was a bit of a bummer but every day after that, he loved!! He did have some issues with the food (pasta water all over his plate, poorly seasoned foods) but all-in-all, we’ll be back!
I really appreciate that Camp Carter emphasizes keeping kids active and connected with nature.
The first summer camp my son ever attended had a philosophy centered around trusting kids to make their own decisions. That meant he spent the entire summer in a blackout room glued to an iPad and eating nothing but pizza.
Camp Carter has been a completely different experience. My son comes home excited to tell me about their daily hikes (which sometimes include treasure hunts), the delicious meals (of which he often gets seconds), and all the fun activities they do together.
We’ll definitely be back! Once his siblings are old enough, they’ll be coming too.
First year to attend Camp Carter and it was his favorite camp all summer! He loved that it was a set up like a real summer camp with the water activities, ropes course, etc. I didn't get to see any photos of his time at camp which was the only downside, but I know he had a great time. Staff were always extremely nice and courteous at pick up/drop off. My son hopes to come back next year and try the overnight camp out! Thanks for offering this camp to the kids!
Fantastic! Our boys (ages 13 and 11) were in different groups, occasionally seeing each other during the day, enjoying kids of their OWN ages. The sheer variety of activities (rappelling, rock climbing, swinging, hiking, gaga ball, nature center, etc), and the opportunity to swim (canoe, paddle board, fish, etc) in the lake and in the pool were highlights to keep their interest up on a daily basis.
Having a group for 13-15 yr olds was critical. Their needs and interests are uniquely different from all of the other kids. Expanding this group and developing and maturing their interests is an important part of the program that could be enhanced.
Loved the safety of the check in and check out in our cars (and with our ID)!
Loved the accessible location of Camp Carter, suburbia at its best.
Being able to call and get a LIVE person on the phone to assist with answering questions, providing information, navigating location of our children, etc was amazing and a very quality aspect of your programming.
The boys really enjoyed their time at Camp Carter this summer 2023 and asked to be able to return next year.
YMCA Camp Carter uses small groups with each counselor and really keeps the kids busy all day. My kid never slept so good! The staff is friendly and easy to reach if you have a question. Would love my kiddo to come back next year!
