Really good experience overall. We appreciate safe and reliable care that covers our work hours and is not far from home. My kids are loved the field trips and activities this summer.
There are been some days that I've been concerned with the amount of screen time - 2 whole movies in one day is a lot and many parents could probably just have their kids watch movies while we work from home, but we send them to camp for a more active and social experience.
I like the variety of activities, and most importantly, I can tell they make an effort for each child to feel cared for and included. My child is learning and having fun.
I just wanted to give a heartfelt shoutout to our incredible camp director at Pawnee Elementary, Jesus Rodriguez. My two daughters have shared nothing but outstanding feedback about Jesus and their experience at camp this summer.
We’ve unfortunately had some less-than-great experiences with staff at Y Care in the past, and it’s become clear just how much of a difference the right leadership can make. Jesus’ positive energy, kindness, and genuine care for the kids has made a lasting impact.
Because of him, our mornings are easier, my daughters are excited to go to camp, and we have complete peace of mind knowing they’re in great hands. We’re truly grateful to have Jesus leading the way this summer—thank you for making such a meaningful difference in our lives!
I like that the cabins are sorted by age, so my 1st grader is not overwhelmed by older kids.
I like that the program has a lot of hands-on fun, like painting with shaving cream, foam party, and letting kids PLAY.
Great field trips and professional, organized team.
First of all, we are incredibly impressed by highland YClub this year – 2025. Two years ago, my son participated in day camp at highland elementary school the entire summer. Although the camp leader seemed to be making the most of the resources, we were disappointed that there was little to no structure, kids seemed board, computer time was available the entire day, they seemed to be stuck in the same lunchroom most of the day, etc. I picked up my son at a variety of times throughout the day due to a flex work schedule and almost every time all the kids were in two places (and two places only) the lunch room or the playground. I found that disappointing because there is an entire school with multiple staff and it seemed like a little leadership from an activities coordinator familiar with grade school children could have made some difference. Mr. C himself was very kind and my son really liked him as a person. [He even asked if Mr. C would be the leader this year.] I had a good experience with him myself but the lack of structure was disappointing.
Because of this experience we did not have my son return until this year when he was participating in summer school at highlands and thus needed after-school care. We were INCREDIBLY impressed with the camp director. I actually would have considered having my son participate the entire summer if I had known this would be the set up. They had activities, parties, very limited Chromebook time. The kids were entertained and happy. They had a schedule that made sense with quiet time, activities both inside and outside. Activities were brought in from outside sources such as build a bear. I wish Kona Ice was available for all kids because it seems very, very sad that some children do not have the opportunity to participate. Regardless, camp seemed much more like "camp" than a "daycare." The diversity of staff and professionalism of the staff has been excellent. I hope the camp director at highlands is given recognition and appreciation for her leadership and clear devotion to excellence and learning.
I appreciate how the day camp provides structure and routine during the summer while still providing fun opportunities for the campers. The weekly field trips are very varied and expose campers to new experiences.
We love summer day camp. Our son has a blast. He loves the new themes each week & the field trips. Kona Ice is his favorite. The staff is amazing. He does have some separation anxiety and they do everything to make drop off in the morning go smoothly whether it’s his favorite teacher coming to get him after I get my hug or another teacher calling him to come to their area to play or asking how his baseball game went the night before. They truly are amazing especially with so many kids.
